Art Nouveau is qualified by long curves founded on twisting plant forms, and a factor of vision. It was initially used as a decorative style in glassware, metalwork and jeweler. This form of art was also used in book illustration, where the authority of Japanese prints is obvious.
Victor Horta was the first person to bring in the Art Nouveau style of painting in Belgium. He introduced these designs for townhouses. This mode of art attained climax in the paintings of Gustav Klimt.

In the Art Nouveau era American artists and architects formulated their own adaptation of the new art. The most well-known of these was Louis Comfort Tiffany. He is one of the supreme glass artists and manufacturer of his time. He created masterpieces in the Art Nouveau style. His roots of aspiration origins from unearthed Roman glass and gothic stained glass. He was also inspired by plants and insects. He altered these natural beings into colorful and sensual paintings.
Another famous and illustrious work which made use of Art Nouveau style was that of American architect Louis Sullivan. He built skyscrapers and fabricated them around steel frames. These reflect the advancement in technology of that period. The exteriors of the skyscrapers were ornamented with elaborate ornaments motivated by figures in nature. With these patterns, Sullivan added components of environment into landscape.
Tiffany lamps are the brain child of Art Nouveau style of art and architecture. This new artistic movement began in Europe somewhere in the late nineteenth century. Tiffany lamps are the best contributions of the period of Art Nouveau. This form of art challenged the ornamented Victoria style.
